I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve been in a cave lately.
Well, not really. But it feels like that.
For almost a year, I have been totally absorbed in creating my online violin lessons for Suzuki book 3. I am so happy to announce that they’re finally all finished!
Did you know I was only two steps ahead of you?
This course opened to students back in August of 2015, when I was only about half finished with the filming. Those of you who signed up in August lit a fire under my butt to finish the rest of it as quickly as possible.
And your input was so important– thank you! I used some of your suggestions and ideas in later videos.
Still others of you let us know about errors in the videos or documents. This allowed us to correct them so that the videos could be in great shape for those who came after. Thank you, too!
A look at what’s coming
As you can see, these classes don’t happen overnight, and they take hundreds (even thousands) of hours to create.
May I share some of my upcoming items on my wishlist with you? I welcome your input and ideas, since some of the best ideas have come from my readers and students. Here are some things I’m tossing about. What are your favorites, or what would you like that is not listed here?
- Total Beginner Fiddle class (child-friendly, shorter videos, easy progression)
- Translate Suzuki Book 1 into Spanish
- Repertoire Tutorials (for American Fiddle, Bluegrass, Old Time, Classical, even Rock tunes)
- Scales Classes (One octave, Two Octave, and Three Octave, you choose which level you want)
- Wohlfahrt Studies (1 video for all 60 of the Opus 45 etudes)
- Old Time Fiddle class (to go hand in hand with the Banjo Class, so students can learn both instruments using the SAME TUNES)
Thank you!
I am feeling very fortunate to have Red Desert Violin be my full time job. There is NOTHING else I would rather do, and so let me just take a moment to tell all of you “THANK YOU!” A tree that falls in the middle of the woods can only make a sound if someone is there to hear it!
I’m in Suzuki book 3 unit 3 now. I’ve been here learning from you for over a year now. I will complete Book 3 by the end of the year. I’m looking forward to learn book 4 in 2017 with you Lora! Your a great teacher and violinist.
Hi David
Wow, you are trucking right along! I’m very impressed and proud of you!
Keep up the great work!
My students keep me on my toes that for sure! I have about 10 people waiting with baited breath for Suzuki 4!
Congrats on completing book 3! I just started on your book 1 and I’m loving it so far! Your techniques and videos are well explained. Keep up the good work and I hope to be able to master book 3 someday!
Keep at it as regularly as you possibly can! It’s a daily battle for ME to get any practicing in….adult life is so busy. JUST KEEP AT IT!
I’ll see you in Book 3! 😉
I would truly love if you continued through the Suzuki books. Specifically book 4 is very much needed for myself! 🙂
Nicole,
I definitely plan to do Book 4, plus a ton of supporting materials…..
It probably will not be ready until the end of 2017, in all honesty. I’ll do my best to get it going!!!
I plan to do Suzuki Book 4 in 2017. (it will be worth the wait, I guarantee it!)
Congratulations on Book 3 Lora!! My 6 year old is just finishing the last song of book 2 (we signed up for book 3 last August) and she loves you as I do. We would love to see lessons on scales and Wohlfahrt 60 Etuden her teacher (in person one) is trying to teach her these but we could use your help so very much!!!!!!!! My daughter loves it when you say things like, “I’ll give you crazy eyes when we get to that spot” it really makes it fun, so thank-you, best wishes for everything good.
Hi Cindy,
Thanks for your comment. I had to giggle thinking of your daughter watching for my “crazy eyes”…..I hope I gave some! LOL I think it is cute and WONDERFUL that you are both viewing the lessons together.
Regarding Wolhfahrt…I started researching it to get a feel for what I would do, and I discovered one of my favorite violinists…..doing a tutorial on DVD of the Wohlfahrt. I immediately ordered both volumes. Will let you know what I think. It’s Rachel Barton Pine, and she is PHENOMENAL….so I’m sure they will be great. I’ll let you know once i get a chance to see them.
But if I think she left any room for the “Red Desert” touch, I will still consider doing them, because they are amongst my FAVORITE etudes ever.
Nice going! Congratulations! You really do a nice job. Not only a great performer, but a great teacher. Not very many can put this information into a lesson like you. You are a blessing.
Thanks for all your support, Francis!
